Elli Paspala and the band Raining Pleasure sing the “Noble Dame” a famous Greek song written and composed by Manos Hadjidakis.
Back in 2004, the band Raining Pleasure accepted a proposal made by the son of the great Greek composer, to re-release the album Reflections which was originally recorded in 1967 by Hadjidakis and the New York Ensemble.
This time, the goal was a more urban and modern sound that would produce a mixture of modern sound with the amazing music of the past. The album Reflections was introduced to media at a concert at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Athens and was received as one of the best albums of the decade.
In 1993 Manos Hadjidakis collaborated with his friend Nikos Gatsos, creating the album “Antikatoptrismoi” which means Reflections in Greek, the Greek version of the original album.
The song Noble Dame is known in Greek with the title Peribanou, and we will hear it in a later post this month.
Noble Dame is a very sensitive song with an exquisite melody that gives the younger generation the chance to get to know one of the most distinctive songs of Greek music, that their parents got to know as Peribanou.
